Overview
Abide was a short puzzle game made for the 48-hour solo competition of Ludum Dare 26. The theme of the game jam was Minimalism.
Inspired by John Maeda’s Laws of Simplicity, I crafted small logic puzzles around three rules: Reduce, Organize, & Repeat.
Each rule featured several small puzzles related to it’s concept. For example, Reduce had the player simplifying shapes until they all matched, while Organize had players sorting different shapes and colors. Instructions given to the player were minimal, with trial & error being expected. The goal of each puzzle was to create an ah ha moment for the player to discover while they tested out different theories of how to progress.
